Group Lesson Details

  • Group lessons only include instruction and you must have a valid ticket or pass to participate in them.
  • Participants must arrive 15 minutes early with the required equipment.

Mini Explorer Details

Mini Explorer lessons are offered for alpine skiing only. Participants in the all-day program receive 60-90 minutes of ski instruction twice daily.

  • Ski time is based on the child’s energy and willingness to participate. Our attentive instructors encourage your child to maximize their learning.
  • All children must be fully potty trained (no pull-ups).
  • Parents must remain on-site during the lesson, be reachable via cell phone, and be available to attend to their child if needed.

Explorer Lesson Details

Explorer group lessons are offered for skiing or snowboarding. Instructors give personalized attention to improve technique while maintaining an interactive, fun environment.

  • Lessons are full-day and include lunch.
  • Short breaks and snacks ensure younger participants enjoy their experience and maintain participation.
  • All children must be fully potty trained (no pull-ups).

Challenger Lesson Details

Challenger group lessons are for both skiing and snowboarding and are organized by ability level. Instructors give personalized attention to improve technique in an interactive, fun learning environment.

TICKET PAKS

SKI/SNOWBOARD RENTALS

Rent top-tier equipment from our conveniently located rental shops and hit the slopes faster when you pick up rentals the night before. Inventory is limited, book in advance to guarantee availability.

Rental Details

  • Rentals do not include lift tickets.
  • Rental Pickup Locations:
    • Moonbeam Lodge: Located at the Moonbeam Base Area on the ground level.
    • Powderhorn Adventure Center: Located in Solitude Village under the clock tower next to the ticket office. Rentals can be picked up after 4:30 PM the night before for an earlier start to the next day.
  • Exchanges:
    • You can swap your gear at any time. Price adjustments may apply.
  • Waiver Policy:
    • We require a parent or legal guardian to sign a release of liability on behalf of an unaccompanied person younger than 18 years old. They will not be able to participate if the release is not signed. No exceptions.

PRIVATE LESSONS

BIG MOUNTAIN TEAM

Big Mountain is a season-long, non-competitive program for skiers ages 10 to 18. Students train toward all-mountain skiing in areas such as off-piste freeskiing, moguls, steeps, trees, and mountain awareness.

Enrollment is limited, so secure your spot now. Big Mountain is ability-based and takes place on recurring dates throughout the season.

Program Details

  • Skiers must be able to ski expert runs safely and carve aggressively in a parallel stance to qualify.
  • Athletes are expected to participate in at least three-fourths of the offered training. Make-up days are not offered for any missed training.
  • Programming begins the second weekend in December and ends the final weekend in March. Practices are held regardless of weather, road conditions, holidays, or business obligations.
  • Equipment Requirements
    • One pair of all mountain skis, properly tuned and in good condition.
    • Properly fitted boots in size and flex in good working condition.
    • A helmet, back protector, and poles are required.
  • All Participants must purchase an Ikon Pass or Solitude Season Pass (no Ikon Base Passes).

DEVO TEAM

The Devo Team is a non-competitive ski and snowboard program focused on fundamentals for ages 6 to 12, teaching participants skills for the Race, Freeride, or Big Mountain team.

Enrollment is limited, so secure your spot now. Devo is ability-based and takes place on recurring dates throughout the season.

Program Details

  • Children are grouped by age and ability.
  • Participants must be able to ski or snowboard intermediate (blue) terrain with skidded parallel turns and pole plants.
  • Equipment Requirements:
    • One pair of all mountain or giant slalom skis at least nose height, owned or seasonal lease (no rentals) in good condition.
    • Properly fitted boots in size and flex in good working condition.
    • Poles, helmets, and goggles are required.
  • Athletes are expected to participate in 65% or more of the offered training. Make-up days are not offered for any missed training.
  • Some athletes may be encouraged to participate in local ski races.

SOLITUDE RACE TEAM

Experience Solitude's commitment to young skier development with our season-long programs. These programs allow your child or teen to explore the terrain, refine techniques, and forge new skills with ski buddies. All programs have optimal instructor-student ratios based on ability. Solitude Race Team Details

  • Participants compete in races from the Youth Ski League to the U16 Championships.
  • Participants must be able to ski intermediate (blue) terrain with skidded parallel turns and pole plants.
  • Skill assessments take place in early December.
  • Participants will compete in U.S. Ski & Snowboard competitions in the region.
  • Participants must provide their own travel to competitions.
  • Some competitions will require additional fees, which will be billed separately.
  • A U.S. Ski & Snowboard membership is required and is available for purchase.
  • We recommend a minimum of two weekly training sessions.

Freeride Details

  • Skiers must be able to ski parallel aggressively on advanced terrain, vary turn shape, and keep consistent speed on steep terrain to be considered for the team.
  • Athletes will compete in regional freeskiing competitions as part of Team Solitude. Competitive participants are required to provide their own travel to competitions.
  • Some competitions require additional fees, which are billed separately.
  • An International Free Skiers Association (IFSA) membership is required.

In Cruisers, children ages 4 to 13 learn new skills, have fun, and progress consistently with the same coach the entire program. Cruisers also offers a great pathway to some of Solitude's competitive teams.
