FIRST-TIMER LESSONS
Ready to try something new? Discover the joy of skiing and riding with the guidance of our friendly, professional instructors. Learn to use your gear, ride the lifts, and make your first turns on gentle terrain. We’re certain you’ll end your first day as a new skier or snowboarder with a smile on your face.
|First-Timer Lesson Details
- First-timer lessons are for those who are trying skiing or snowboarding for the first time. Instructors teach fundamental techniques to beginners who have never skied or snowboarded before. Students receive personalized attention in a fun, interactive environment.
- We do not recommend purchasing more than one first-timer lesson per guest. Once you have completed a first-timer lesson you will be ready to join our regular group lessons. To sign up for additional group lessons, see our group lessons page.
- Lessons only include instruction, and you must have a valid ticket or pass to participate in them.
- Discounted Beginner Lift Ticket and rental equipment are available with purchase of the First-Timer Lesson. In order to get available online discounts, these items must be purchased at the same time that you purchase your lesson. The Beginner Lift Ticket provides access to Link, Moonbeam Express, and the Magic Carpet (will not work with other chairlifts).
- Participants must arrive 15 minutes early with the required equipment.
- All lesson participants under 18 must wear helmets while in lessons. Helmets for adults are recommended but not required. See our Pre-Arrival Guide for additional gear and clothing recommendations.
- Parking reservations are guaranteed with the purchase of lessons. Please see our Pre-Arrival Guide, linked in your confirmation email after checkout, for additional information.
- All lessons include priority lift line access.
FIRST-TIMER MINI EXPLORER (AGES 3-4) LESSON DETAILS
- Ski and snowboarding time is based on the child’s energy and willingness to participate.
- Full day lessons include lunch.
- Lessons include both indoor and outdoor activities designed to support your child’s learning experience and help them enjoy their time at Solitude.
- All children must be fully potty trained (no pull-ups).
- Parents must remain on-site during the lesson, be reachable via cell phone, and be available to attend to their child if needed.
FIRST-TIMER EXPLORER (AGES 5-6) LESSON DETAILS
- Lessons are full-day and include lunch.
- All children must be fully potty trained (no pull-ups).
- Parents must remain on-site during the lesson, be reachable via cell phone, and be available to attend to their child if needed.
FIRST-TIMER CHALLENGER (AGES 7-13) LESSON DETAILS
- Lessons are full-day and include lunch.
- Parents must remain on-site during the lesson, be reachable via cell phone, and be available to attend to their child if needed.

Cancel your lesson for a full refund before 5:00 PM. two days prior to your reservation. Cancellations after that time incur a $20 reservation fee per product. Day-of reservations are nonrefundable, and no shows will be charged the full-day rate.
GROUP LESSONS
Sharpen your skills in a group lesson. Solitude instructors use a guest-centered approach that emphasizes effective goal setting, instructional activities, and personalized feedback. Groups are organized with skiers and riders of similar ability.

- Group lessons are offered for skiing or snowboarding. Instructors give personalized attention to improve technique while maintaining an interactive, fun environment.
- Group lessons only include instruction, and you must have a valid ticket or pass to participate in them.
- Parking reservations are guaranteed with the purchase of lessons. Please see our Pre-Arrival Guide, linked in your confirmation email after checkout, for additional information.
- All lessons include priority lift line access.
- Check in at the Ski & Ride ticket windows to pick up discounted lift tickets purchased with lessons. Lessons meet on snow next to the Ski & Ride School building in the Moonbeam base area

- Participants must be present when classes are formed to join the correct group.
